Free, confidential and independent support
We provide assistance with budgeting, consumer credit issues, debt negotiation and advocacy. Jacaranda CC also provides Money Management course, and is also a registered sponsor for the Work and Development Permit Scheme.
Our financial counselling and capability programs support individuals and families across the Perth southeast corridor and beyond. All services are free, confidential, and delivered without judgement.
Aboriginal Financial Counselling Program
Funded by the WA Department of Communities, the Aboriginal Financial Counselling Outreach Service (AFCOS) provides free, confidential, and culturally safe financial counselling for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families across the Perth southeast metro corridor from Belmont to Armadale.
The program takes a culturally informed and holistic approach, recognising the importance of family, community, and cultural connection in supporting long-term financial wellbeing.

Family and Domestic Violence Financial Counselling Program
Jacaranda Community Centre provides outreach financial counselling support for women experiencing family and domestic violence, including those in refuge and safe accommodation across the Perth South East, South West, Inner, and Metro areas.
This service addresses unmet demand for women who are unable to attend face-to-face appointments due to safety concerns, providing flexible and trauma-informed financial counselling.
Our Financial Counsellors provide tailored, practical support to help clients regain financial stability and independence, including:
- Budgeting and financial planning support
- Assistance dealing with banks, utilities, and creditors
- Support with debts arising from coercive control and financial abuse
- Advocacy and hardship negotiations
- Referrals to legal services, family law, and property settlement support
- Connection to specialist and community services
Support continues as clients transition into housing, including follow-up appointments at our Belmont office or via phone, helping to build long-term stability, confidence, and financial wellbeing for women and their families.
DSS Financial Counselling
Funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS), Jacaranda Community Centre provides free, confidential, and independent financial counselling support for individuals and families experiencing financial stress or hardship across the southeast corridor from Belmont to Armadale.
The program primarily supports culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) and non-Indigenous clients; however, assistance may be available to anyone within the southeast corridor where appointments are available. Aboriginal clients can also access support through the Aboriginal Financial Counselling Outreach Service (AFCOS).
Jacaranda delivers a client-centred and strengths-based service, supporting individuals and families to build financial resilience, improve confidence, and work toward long-term financial stability.
Financial counselling industry fund
The program is funded through the Financial Counselling Industry Fund and primarily supports people living in Perth’s South West corridor from Fremantle to Rockingham. It complements existing AFCOS services in the South East corridor to reduce service gaps and improve statewide coverage.
Priority access is be given to Aboriginal people in the South West, with additional capacity for South East clients and regional clients where availability allows.
This program is delivered by Aboriginal Financial Counsellors and an Aboriginal Financial Capability Worker, ensuring services are culturally safe, community-led, and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal clients.
This service is designed to provide timely, respectful, and practical support to help people stabilise their situation and move toward long-term financial wellbeing.
Financial Capability
A Financial Capability Worker supports individuals and families to build practical money skills, confidence, and long-term financial wellbeing. This role focuses on early intervention and prevention — helping people understand and manage their finances before issues become a crisis.
The Financial Capability Worker works alongside clients in a supportive, non-judgmental way, helping them build independence and strengthen their ability to manage money effectively over time.
- Basic budgeting and money management skills
- Understanding bills, banking, and everyday expenses
- Setting financial goals and building saving habits
- Improving financial confidence and decision-making
- Providing education on avoiding debt and financial stress
- Linking clients to financial counselling when needed
Redress
This program is funded under Department of Communities. Financial Counselling is provided to clients throughout the claiming process to provide information regarding, Centrelink, Scams, keeping money safe as well as any other issues that would clients would normally book for a Financial Counsellor.
All clients that are applying under the Scheme are eligible to contact Jacaranda Community Centre regardless of their location.
